The Team of Choice today unveiled the 36-year-old at a press conference, elevating him from the role of interim coach.
During the 2016/17 season assistant coach Davids twice stepped in to take the reins when first Ernst Middendorp and then Roger de Sa departed the club.
Davids did a commendable job in both instances in which he was in charge, guiding United to six wins and six draws during his 14 matches at the helm.
April proved to be a particularly good month for Davids as he scooped the Absa Premiership Coach of the Month award with the side’s strong performances during that period leaving them well positioned to eventually claim a spot in the top eight come the end of the campaign.
Club chairman Farook Kadodia was paritcularly pleased with the appointment, underlining how they had come to their decision.
“We assembled a strong squad to compete in the 2016/17 season but nonetheless we had the disruption of two coaches resigning during the season,” he stated at the unveling.
“During this period the club had turned twice in the season to assistant coach Fadlu Davids as the interim coach. It was during this period that we saw fully the abilities of Fadlu Davids as a head coach.”
