Defender par excellence
Mention of South African football would be incomplete without including Bafana Bafana Mark Fish.
Mark Fish began his career at Arcadia Shepherds before being spotted by Jomo Cosmos where started off as a striker. Fish was however converted to being a centre back, turning out to be one of the best defenders in South Africa.
Fish would move abroad after he was signed by Lazio. The ex-Bfaana Bafana star would then move to England after attracting interest from Bolton Wanderers. Fish then moved to Charlton Athletic where he played for 5 seasons.
Fish won himself 62 caps for South Africa and was part of the Bafana Bafan squad which conquered at the 1996 Africa cup of Nations. Fish is regarded as one of the greatest defenders to come out of South Africa.
