Diogo Jota Scores Hattrick To Inspire Liverpool To Victory! The Portuguese forward continued his remarkable run of form since joining the club. Diogo Jota scored his first hattrick for Liverpool.
Liverpool played Atalanta in the UEFA Champions League last night in Italy. This promised to be a titanic match between two European heavy hitters.
Alas, Liverpool displaced all those claims by beating the Italians 5-0 away from home. Goals from Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mané completed the rout.
Liverpool now sit top of their group and are in pole position to qualify with one more victory.
When asked whether he is playing the best football of his career, Jota replied:
“Well I’m playing in the best team in my career so far, that’s for sure.” Jota told BT Sport.
“I don’t know if it was my best moment, but obviously scoring goals is my way of playing football so I’m really happy with this and the result, of course.
“A great win away in the Champions League, so good moment, good night.”
Diogo Jota became the first player since Robbie Fowler to score in his first two UEFA Champions League starts for the club.
He has also now scored 7 goals in his first 10 matches for the club. No player has achieved such a feat for the club since Robbie Fowler once again.
Liverpool play Manchester City on Sunday.
“Well, I think five goals – it doesn’t happen so often [that you] score five in one game so I think that’s good.
“I think the clean sheet as well, so if we can do the clean sheet against City, I am pretty sure we will win the game.”
