Downs Humble Chiefs in 2012 MTN 8 QF – Do you remember this game?

Debut goals from Thamsanqa Sangweni, Tebogo Langerman and Edward Manqele, added to another strike from Lebohang Mokoena, handed the Brazilians a record win over Amakhosi in the 2012 MTN 8 Quarter Final.

The Brazilians rampant from the first whistle, got on the scoresheet early with Sangweni connecting an inswinging corner from Teko Modise in the seventh minute, to hand Downs the early lead.

Six minutes later it was another set-piece and Langerman powered home a low left-footed shot from inside the box.

In the 24th minute the Brazilians continued to pile on the pressure, this time Teko swung the ball into the box and Manqele headed on target. Khune with the acrobatic save, only for Mokoena to tap home from the rebound.

The Brazilians were not done yet, and there was one more surge ahead of the half time whistle. A counter-attack from the Brazilians caught the Chiefs defence off guard as Modise put in another pin-point cross to find the unmarked Manqele, who headed home from close range to make it 4-0 in the 37th minute.

Chiefs got their consolation goal late in the game when Letsholonyane finished from six yards out to make it 4-1.

The Brazilians joined Orlando Pirates, SuperSport United and Moroka Swallows in the semi-final of the 2012 MTN 8 draw.
