Downs super fan, Sibusiso Encore
30 Year old Graphic Designer & Downs super fan, Sibusiso Encore is the winner of our latest “Show & Tell” competition, taking home a signed Sundowns replica jersey. The life-long fan has been in the stands from the age of 10, attending games across the country.
The competition encouraged supporters to post a picture of themselves in their Bafana ba Style keepsake! We were looking for pictures of your posters, scarves, makarapas or anything that reminds you of Mamelodi Sundowns, and what makes you a Super-fan.
We received hundreds of entires across all our social platforms and Sibusiso and his son, Lwazi were our winners!
“I am over the moon, me and my boy are so happy right now. We took the photo outside my house on our way to the stadium 2 years ago. We were attending the Champions League clash at Lucas Moripe.”
Lwazi, who coincidentally also, turns 5 today has also been a Downs supporter from birth, with his dad proudly claiming, “he has no choice, we are both massive supporters of the team. Our best memory was winning the champions league, after the fourth goal by Anthony Laffor, I knew we were taking the star.”
When picking who would sign his jersey, the choice was tough for the lifelong Super-fan. “Favourite player… I have a lot of favourites! But I need to go with Thapelo Morena.”
“I love his speed, he’s not a stocky guy. I also enjoy the way he reads the game. He is versatile and can play across all positions. He has the ability to just snap and boom – goal out of no where.”
Sibusiso, whose favourite player is on the mend and getting closer to a full return to action, recalls the recent injury scare for the Brazilian speedster.
“I was frustrated because I couldn’t watch the game. Then when I saw the injury, I wish I could give him my ankle and take the injury.” This again, showing what a real Super-fan is made of.
