Swallows FC lost 4-2 at home to Mamelodi Sundowns in the DSTV Premiership last night. Head coach Dylan Kerr was left to bemoan all their missed opportunities.

Peter Shalulile scored a standout hattrick to seal the win for the visitors. However, the score line did not represent the complete complexion of the match.

The hosts missed clear cut opportunities, whereas the clinical Brazilians all found the back of the net when these opportunities presented themselves.

“We spoke about it before the game,” Kerr told SuperSport TV after the loss.

“You’ve got to respect Mamelodi Sundowns for who they are and what they’ve achieved. But once you step onto that green field and over that line then when you’re not prepared, you’re going to get caught.

“The three goals were all through our right-back. And then going into the second half I had to change it and it worked.

“I think Victor shouted to me we could have been 4-3 up. We had four good chances and didn’t hit the target once.

“Gamildien’s got us back in to the game in the dying minutes and we make another defensive mistake. Against Sundowns and teams of that quality you can’t do that.

“We created four good chances in the first ten minutes of the second half. Straight away from the kick-off, KG just needs to put the ball in the net.

“You’ve only got the goalkeeper to beat and now we make the trip to Maritzburg for the rearranged game.” He lamented.
