Dylan Kerr Impressed with Itumeleng Khune‘s DSTV Compact Showing! Warriors FC defeated Amabutho FC on Saturday evening.

Temporary side Warriors FC beat Amabutho FC 2-1 in the DSTV Compact Cup on Saturday. Coach of the day Dylan Kerr was left impressed with the performance put in by Itumeleng Khune.

The veteran goalkeeper played in a competitive game for the first time in five months. His last outing was against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN 8 quarterfinal, on the opening weekend of PSL football.

He conceded comical goals in the match and has since not ever made a Stuart Baxter first XI. Itu has had to make do with not even the bench, on many occasions.

He made the Warriors FC starting line up through his popularity. Fans voted for him to be the shot stopper for the day.

“It’s difficult,” Kerr said, when discussing Khune’s situation at Amakhosi.

“He was playing and now he is not playing at all but obviously Stuart, Dillon and Arthur were watching this game from home this afternoon. He is not running his game down.

“He is a good professional with a good attitude. He worked his socks off at training.

“I thought Khune was outstanding because he had not played for a long time. To come into this competition the expectations were all on the keeper for who he is.

“The massive personality that he is. For me, I thought he was the man of the match because he saved us.

“With the goal that they scored, he made a great save but unfortunately, we didn’t react to the rebound,” he added.
