Eden Hazard has announced that he has retired from professional football. This comes in the wake of him being a free agent this season.
Hazard is only 32 years old, and many argue that he can still produce in the highest level of the game. However, he has battled with fitness over the past few years, resulting in this outcome.
The star winger last played for Real Madrid, where his form and fitness took a turn for the worst. His best period was when he represented Chelsea FC between 2012 and 2019, where he became one of the best players in the world.
“You must listen to yourself and say stop at the right time,” Hazard posted on his Instagram.
“After 16 years and more than 700 matches played, I have decided to end my career as a professional footballer. I was able to realise my dream, I have played and had fun on many pitches around the world.
“During my career I was lucky to meet great managers, coaches and teammates – thank you to everyone for these great times, I will miss you all. I also want to thank the clubs I have played for: LOSC, Chelsea and Real Madrid; and thank the RBFA for my Belgian Selection.” He added.
He hasn’t spoken as to what the next part of his career will entail. Eden Hazard Retires from Professional Football!
