Elias Mokwana’s Camp Dismisses Kaizer Chiefs Transfer Talk as “Disturbing Stories”

Rumours linking Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana with a potential move to Kaizer Chiefs have been firmly denied by his representatives, who insist there is no truth to the reports suggesting a return to South African football could be on the cards.
Recent reports from Tunisia reignited speculation about Amakhosi’s interest in the 25-year-old attacker, claiming that the Soweto giants had tabled a fresh offer to lure Mokwana from Tunisian powerhouse Esperance de Tunis. Mokwana, who joined Esperance from Sekhukhune United after a proposed deal with Chiefs fell through ahead of the 2024/25 season, was said to be back on the Naturena radar.
Adding to the intrigue, Mokwana has previously spoken of his admiration for Kaizer Chiefs, stating that wearing the famous gold and black jersey would be a dream come true. His open affection for the club has only fuelled speculation each time the transfer window approaches.
However, Cream Sports Management, the agency representing Mokwana, has moved quickly to quash the latest transfer talk. Speaking to KickOff.com, the agency dismissed the reports as entirely unfounded and expressed frustration at the ongoing rumours.
“There is no truth in those reports about Mokwana joining Kaizer Chiefs, there’s nothing, nothing like that,” a representative from Cream Sports confirmed. “It’s just people having wishes, and it’s one of those disturbing stories.”
The agency went on to emphasize that Mokwana remains fully committed to Esperance, where he has quickly become a key figure since his arrival. “His camp has not received nor heard any word from Chiefs and I can tell you, Mokwana is still happy at Esperance,” they added.
The timing of the speculation comes just as Esperance prepare for their campaign in the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, set to take place in the United States. The Tunisian side has been drawn into Group D, where they will face global giants Chelsea, Brazilian heavyweights Flamengo, and MLS champions Los Angeles FC.
Mokwana is expected to play a crucial role for Esperance in the tournament, providing him with a global platform to showcase his talent. His performances could yet draw attention from European and Middle Eastern clubs, making a return to South Africa increasingly unlikely—at least for now.
While the player’s admiration for Kaizer Chiefs is no secret, his immediate focus remains on club commitments with Esperance and representing African football on the world stage. For now, any talk of a move back to the PSL appears to be more fantasy than fact.
