Eric Tinkler Disappointed in Defeat to Orlando Pirates! The Cityzens suffered a loss against The Buccaneers this weekend.

Cape Town City lost 2-1 away to Orlando Pirates in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday afternoon. Head coach Eric Tinkler was unhappy with their performance in the loss.

The Cityzens took an early lead as Khanyisa Mayo scored when he was one on one against the goalkeeper. The Buccaneers equalized in the first half through striker Terrence Dzvukamanja.

Monnapule Saleng scored the winning goal in the last 10 minutes of the encounter.

“We knew, like I said in the pre match [interview], tough team to play against.” Tinkler told SuperSport TV after the defeat.

“We came here looking to be positive, put them under pressure. I felt we started really, really well.

“We done exactly that and we got the opener. But from then on, we needed to control the game a lot better, which we didn’t.

“We gave the ball away very, very cheaply and when you give the ball away cheaply it starts to put you under pressure. Then you start to worry more about them than them worrying about you.

“We needed to get that better. Our possession in this game was extremely poor. Final pass, extremely poor.

“That’s the disappointment, because ultimately that’s supposed to be our strength and we didn’t play to that today. And obviously we end up on the lose again.” He stated.
