Ernst Middendorp Extremely Relieved To Grab Win! Maritzburg United got the better of Black Leopards in a bottom of the table clash.

Thabiso Kutumela scored a last minute penalty to grab all three points for the Team of Choice. This is a victory that sees them level with Black Leopards on 12 points at the bottom of the table.

The win also sees an end to a rotten run of consecutive defeats. It’s only Maritzburg United’s third win of the season.

“We talked after our last game, after the halfway point of the season,” Middendorp told the media.

“We had to do something to change the structure, to bring in another mood, another attitude, another willingness, the mentality to win.

“The first game of the second half of the season was for us very, very crucial to make the three points. It’s a massive, massive, massive three points,” the German coach added.

Ernst Middendorp laments the need to create and maintain a very healthy intensity in DSTV Premiership matches. Particularly as they need to work extra hard to get the points they need from this point onwards.

“We complained before about not getting the intensity we want to see from players in 90 minutes, if necessary five, six, seven minutes more,” he said.

“We spoke a lot about it, we increased the intensity at training sessions to get used to it. In the end you play how you train.

“We know that the load can get too much, but we have options with a number of players who can take over and come in. It’s important for us, we have to go all out every game, home and away.” Middendorp concluded.

The Team of Choice have a game in hand on Black Leopards, so they have to focus on usurping Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila. Ernst Middendorp Extremely Relieved To Grab Win!
