Siya Kolisi’s Father Becomes Instant Celebrity (Video)

Siya Kolisi becoming the first black captain of the South African Rugby Team, the Springboks has captivated the nation holding it spellbound and the cherry on top was lifting the Webb Ellis trophy.

Never had it being imagined before that a black man would hold forte at the Springboks and better still lift the most important trophy in the sport’s history.

Siya Kolisi’s larger than life experience, finest hour and crowning moment came in the presence of his father Fezakele Raymond Kolisi, whom he flew all the way to Japan on his first overseas trip to experience the joy of sport and pride of a nation.

Siya Kolisi’s dad had never left South Africa prior to flying to Japan but now the man is an instant celebrity as his son’s successes on the rugby field helped him to rise from the poor township of Zwide, to become a global sporting icon have rubbed onto him.

This was highlighted on Twitter where Fezakele in a car with half his body protruding precariously from the window is mobbed by people from his village who take turns to congratulate him on behalf of his son’s achievements and he takes it all in together with the euphoria.

What better title to have at this hour than being the father to the Rugby World Cup winning captain in South Africa?
