The Brazilians were crowned DSTV Premiership champions after the encounter.

Surprise Ralani gave them the lead in the first half. Ali Meza equalized in the second half to claim an important point for the visitors.

“Yeah, fantastic game, absolutely fantastic,” Davids told SuperSport TV.

“We said it to Karim [Kimvuidi] before the game, ‘if you fall, it’s a goal.’ The referee won’t give the foul, but its unfortunate that we had to learn a hard lesson like that, because [in] the first half we had huge, huge possibilities to score.

“And of course, in the second half, how we just flipped the mindset to really go with a high press. To really go on the front foot and absolutely [we did].

“It’s the first time since I been here that we’ve played two days between a match. It wasn’t about fatigue, it wasn’t about anything, it was about mindset, and like I said, with a growth mindset, which is what I try to inculcate into our players and absolutely fantastic.

“On the other hand, I would like to say congratulations to Mamelodi Sundowns, my colleague coach Rulani [Mokwena] and the two coaches behind him [Steve Komphela and Manqoba Mngqithi]. A really marvelous job. I wish they can win this [CAF] Champions League.

“The way they’re playing, the football they are playing, its unbelievable. They are really putting South Africa on the map, so I wish them well in their upcoming game, the semi-final [against Wydad Casablanca].

“And of course, I know they are going to win the final.

“Ali Meza is, we forget that he had the two years with an ACL [Anterior Cruciate Ligament], double ACL. Came back, [played three games] and then he had the other knee. So, he had two years of inactivity, so really managing him.

“But how he puts his body on the line, he came in, made the difference.” He spoke.
