Maritzburg United have played all their matches in the DSTV Premiership this season. If results go their way this weekend, they will survive yet another season.

The Team of Choice are in 14th place, safe from relegation, having played one extra match. Beneath them is Marumo Gallants and Chippa United who are both on 29 points, one point behind Maritzburg.

These teams just need one point each in their matches to seal relegation for Maritzburg United. Head coach Fadlu Davids hopes there won’t be any match fixing on the day.

“We’re not really sure if one point is enough, we hope now, we saw the game with Pretoria Callies [against Polokwane City], we saw the game with Kwanele Kopo and everything that happened with the four goals,” Davids told SuperSport TV.

“I really feel sorry for Cape Town Spurs, what happened with TUKS celebrating like they won the league [Motsepe Foundation Championship]. We put the pressure over now to Chippa [United] and Marumo [Gallants].

“Golden Arrows, their players are going to be under so much scrutiny, one mistake and everybody is going to say, ‘a goalkeeping mistake by Golden Arrows, what happened? Da Rocha, what’s going on?’

“So, Golden Arrows players are under scrutiny. And of course, Marumo Gallants playing Swallows, I mean their players have to play on their toes.

“They have to be really professional. The whole is going to watch. ‘Are they going to give them the game?’

“You don’t want to say that, but what the coach was insinuating, Kwanele Kopo, everybody, the entire country is going to watch with hawk eyes to be able to see, ‘can they win the game in a proper way?

“Swallows, are they going to push for the top 8 or is someone going to suddenly slip at the edge of the box, and they score?’ The entire country is going to watch these games, the relegation fight normally we should be there.” He added.

All kick-offs this weekend will be at 15h00. Fadlu Davids Hopes There Won’t Be Any Match-Fixing on Final Day!
