This is after the Naturena club axed head coach Ernst Middendorp and assistant coach Shaun Bartlett last week. Both Hunt and Kaizer Chiefs are unattached to any party at the moment.
Kaizer Chiefs boss Kaizer Motaung said that the club would hire a head coach and assistant coach before players return for pre-season. Kaizer Chiefs players will return for pre-season in 2 weeks. So, an announcement is expected to be made within these two weeks.
Hunt, currently on holiday in Cape Town, denies holding any talks with Kaizer Chiefs.
“I’m in Cape Town right now and I haven’t spoken to anybody, so I don’t know where you’re getting your stories,” the 4-time PSL winning coach said.
Gavin Hunt is a free agent after Wits’ relocation to Limpopo. The Students were taken over by businessman Masala Mulaudzi and will form the Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila.
Many Pitso Mosimane and Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Dennis Onyango believe that Hunt would be an astute appointment from Kaizer Chiefs. The decorated manager would be warmly welcomed by a majority of Kaizer Chiefs supporters.
