FIFA Confirms Prize Money for CAF Teams at 2025 Club World Cup
FIFA has officially confirmed how much the four African clubs participating in the expanded 2025 FIFA Club World Cup will earn just for taking part. The tournament, which will feature 32 teams for the first time, boasts a massive $1 billion (R18.2 billion) prize pool, making it the richest edition of the competition to date.
Among the participating clubs, four African sides—Al Ahly (Egypt), Espérance de Tunis (Tunisia), Wydad Athletic Club (Morocco), and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa)—are each guaranteed $9.55 million (R174 million) simply for qualifying.
European Teams Earn More
Despite the significant payout for CAF clubs, FIFA’s financial structure ensures that European teams will receive more. Clubs from UEFA will earn between $12.81 million (R233 million) and $38.19 million (R676 million) for participating, depending on FIFA’s sporting and commercial criteria.
Additional Earnings for Performance
FIFA has also introduced financial incentives for teams based on their performance throughout the tournament. Clubs will receive additional payouts as follows:
- Group Stage Wins: $2 million (R36 million) per victory
- Group Stage Draws: $1 million (R18 million) per draw
- Round of 16 Qualification: $7.5 million (R136 million)
- Quarter-finals: $13.125 million (R239 million)
- Semi-finals: $21 million (R382 million)
- Finalists: $30 million (R546 million) each
- Winners: An additional $40 million (R729 million)
