Fifa Officials Arrested In Switzerland
With only just two days left before the FIFA presidential election, several FIFA Officials got arrested yesterday on corruption charges, according to reports. The Switzerland authorities arrested a couple of certain officials in FIFA in an undercover mission at the Baur Lac hotel and they are ready to extradite them to the United States.
The New York Times reported that the charges include racketeering, money laundering and wire fraud.
“We are shocked at how long this went for and how it has touched every part of what FIFA did”, said a law enforcement official.
Some of the officials who were arrested are believed to be Jeffrey Webb (the president of Cayman Islands football association & FIFA vice president), Eugenio Figueredo (former president of South African football association), Jack Warner ( ex-vice president of FIFA & the president of Caribbean football Union) and Eduardo Li, the president of the Costa Rican football federation.
We wonder what these arrests will mean to the footballing world? What is your opinion on this matter?
