FIFA Orders Senegal Vs Bafana Replay For WC Qualifier! FIFA has ordered that Bafana Bafana will be required to replay their 2018 Soccer World Cup qualifier against Senegal that was played on November 12, 2016 in Polokwane which South Africa won 2-1.
FIFA Disciplinary and Appeal Committees decision follows confirmation from the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to uphold the lifetime ban of match referee Joseph Lamptey for “match manipulation”.
FIFA requested the match be replayed within the November 2017 international window, the exact date is yet to be confirmed. Upon receiving a letter from FIFA, SAFA challenged the decision made by FIFA.
In response, FIFA confirmed that neither the SA national team nor Senegal is at fault but the decision of a replay comes after the disciplinary proceedings against the match referee, Lamptey.
