Former Fifa Executive Admits To Accepting Bribe For SA To Host 2010 Soccer World Cup
On Wednesday night Chuck Blazer, the former Fifa Executive Committee member has pleaded guilty against Charles Gordon in the US District Court of New York to taking bribes for the selection of South African as the host to the 2010 World Cup but for also the selection of the host of 1998 World Cup, amongst other charges.
“During my association with FIFA and CONCACAF , I and the others agreed that I or co-conspirator would commit at least two acts of racketeering activity. I agreed with the others in or around 1992 to facilitate the acceptance bribe in connection with the selection of the host of the 1998 World Cup.”
“Beginning of 2004 and through 2011, I and the others on the FIFA committee agreed to accept bribes in connection to the 2010 World Cup and amongst other things.” said Blazer.
