Former Goalie Khuzwayo Goes Entrepreneurial, Opens Spaza Shop? (Fan Reactions)

Retired South Africa international goalkeeper Brilliant Khuzwayo has decided to be the change that he wants to see in the world by going the entrepreneurial route to sustain himself since his career ending injury.

Khuzwayo invited different comments from social media users when he courageously and gladly posted pictures of himself and announced “his” spaza shop as his new hustle since confirmation that he could no longer earn from playing competitive football.

The spaza shop idea might not be bad as the goalkeeper who used to earn thousands of dollars in the bank every month from his football talent tries to shift focus, supplement his income and make ends meet in the long run.

Khuzwayo revealed recently that there was a chance of paralysis if he had continued with his playing career.

“It’s very important for me to shift my mindset. Right now, things are not going how I wish them to be, but God has decided things will go this path to create a new chapter for you,”

“We tried many options but unfortunately it was too bad. I would’ve ended up paralysed if I carried on playing.” said Khuzwayo.

Khuzwayo is in an exclusive and elite class of players who managed to cross the Soweto great divide to represent both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.

The 29 year old Khuzwayo return in between the sticks in the Soweto Derby Absa Premiership Woza Nazo penalty shootout competition partaken by soccer fans during half-time.

The popular Woza Nazo Shootout SAW the sixth football supporter this season winning an instant cash prize of R100 000.

During half-time, five Absa customers were brought to the pitch to kick against recently retired former Amakhosi and Buccaneers goalkeeper Khuzwayo, in a sudden death competition that determine the winner.

Fan Reactions

Several social media users trolled to Brilliant Khuzwayo’s posts on Instagram and Twitter with some not believing the posts to be real and suggesting that he should not make fun of how other people survive whilst others gave him the plaudits for going the entrepreneurial route.

Others requested for more pictures tomorrow, obviously to confirm whether Khuzwayo was telling the truth or that indeed he has fallen on hard times to stoop so low as to open a spaza shop.
