From Pirates star to cellphone thief

Former Orlando Pirates defender Zvenyika Makonese’s has had a rapid decline from being a football star to being convicted for stealing a police officer’s cell phone.

Makonese was convicted for the theft of a cellphone but was lucky to escape imprisonment after being given the option of paying a fine.

Zvenyika Makonese, once a top player for Pirates is struggling to make ends meat and is now employed as a bus conductor back in Zimbabwe. The former Bucaneers star was notorious for heavy spending at night clubs during his days at Pirates.
