Gaston Sirino Wishes to Join Al Ahly from Mamelodi Sundowns! The Uruguayan midfielder still dreams of playing under Pitso Mosimane once again.
Gaston Sirino wishes that Mamelodi Sundowns can allow him to join Al Ahly this transfer window. The creative midfielder has been linked with a move to the Egyptian side since last year.
Al Ahly enquired and made a bid for Sirino last year October. But the two clubs couldn’t reach an agreement over the value of Sirino.
As such, Al Ahly pulled out of the negotiations and surrendered their pursuit of Sirino. He stayed on and played a part as Sundowns won the 2020/21 DSTV Premiership.
However, Sirino has come out and said that he still wishes to join Pitso Mosimane in Egypt.
“Al-Ahly is the best club in Africa, and joining them is a dream,” Sirino told OnTime Sports.
“My contract expires with Sundowns after two seasons, and my relationship is great with Pitso Mosimane, but I have not communicated with him for a while because of the circumstances.
“I hope that negotiations go easier if it’s renewed between Al Ahly and Sundowns. I will try to connect the two boards to each other and bring their views closer because my dream is to play for Al Ahly, who have a great history in Africa and internationally.
“There are no contacts at the moment, but there were contacts earlier. I pray to God that the Sundowns’ board will be more flexible this time if negotiations are renewed.” He stressed.
Sirino also rubbished claims that age may not be on his side. He recently turned 30 years old in February.
I don’t care about age because I feel that my physical fitness is excellent, and I work on myself well, so I don’t worry about the age factor,” he added.
“Why Al Ahly? Because it is one of the best clubs on the continent and in the world and has a great history. Therefore, playing for Al Ahly is a dream of mine.” He said.
