Chippa United lost 3-1 at home to giants Orlando Pirates in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday. Head coach Gavin Hunt has conceded the fact that his team will not score many goals this season.
The Chilli Boys took an early lead through new striker Phakamani Mahlambi. However, the game quickly slipped away from the hosts.
The Buccaneers equalised through striker Tshegofatso Mabasa. Midfielders Abel Mabaso and Goodman Mosele fired Pirates into an unassailable lead.
Hunt insists that his team must make the most of every opportunity they create.
“Disappointing, really disappointing,” Gavin Hunt told SuperSport TV after the match.
“I thought we had the better chances of the two teams. They took theirs; we didn’t take ours and we’ve got to defend better.
“Defending has been the problem of the club for years and we’ve got to get our defending right. We’re not and ja, so we brought the big players back, but they let us down in defence, that’s for sure.” He added.
Gavin Hunt denied accusations that Chippa began to park the bus after they took the lead. He believes that they continued to play an open game.
“No, not at all, I disagree with that,” said Hunt.
“We should have been two, three nil up, so I disagree with that.
“We have got to pick up the pieces and try to have clean sheets,” said the Chippa coach.
“We’re not going to score goals, I mean we don’t have (the means), so we’ve got to keep clean sheets and we can win games.” He admitted.
