Gavin Hunt believes in young players!
Bidvest Wits coach, Gavin Hunt, celebrates 3 decades of football in 2017. Having started his career in football at Helenic in 1981, Hunt is still in football today but as a coach. Hunt has 11 honours under his belt, some of which include the MTN8, ABSA Premiership and other cup titles.
The MTN8 cup winner in 2016 with Wits is still yet to win the PSL title with Wits after a disappointing finish last season. However, Hunt has transformed Wits after filling on the shoes of fellow successful coach Roger De Sa who left the club in 2013.
Major transformation at Wits has been the fielding of youth development players in the senior team. Wits youth development has seen great talent emerge with the likes of Sfiso Myeni, Phakamani Mahlambi and Reeve Frosler. Young players have gelled well with senior players and this has allowed Wits to win and sit at the top half of the PSL table.
Hunt is a great magician who transforms teams as we have seen over the years after success at Swallows and Supersport United. Hunt is working hard at Wits and soon there will be silverware to back his success with the students.
