Gavin Hunt Struggles as Kaizer Chiefs Drop More Points!
Gavin Hunt Struggles as Kaizer Chiefs Drop More Points! The Amakhosi drew 0-0 at home to DSTV Premiership new boy’s TS Galaxy. This sees the new manager continue to struggle with the squad he is inherited.
Kaizer Chiefs disappointingly dropped points at home to new side TS Galaxy. Galaxy are not even a new side that won promotion.
TS Galaxy bought the status of former PSL side Highlands Park. So, their pedigree in this division is yet to be proven.
But they were able to hold their own away to last season’s PSL runners up. This speaks volumes of the squad that Gavin Hunt has inherited.
Some say he adopted a squad of old players who can no longer produce like they used to. While other claim that this is a squad that was 20 minutes away from winning last season’s league title, so they are still capable of producing.
“As the game progressed, we got stronger. We’re going to have to try and get the maximum out of the group of players we have,” Gavin Hunt told SuperSport TV.
“It’s all I can do. Last year they scored 48 goals, 23 from set-pieces, you can see why.
“The top goal scorer is not playing, and he scored half of them. So, there is your problem” as Gavin Hunt lamented Kaizer Chiefs’ reliance on dead balls.
“We had unbelievable chances. Must be taking them.
“But defensively a little bit better. Clean sheet, something to build on. And we have just got to build, one step at a time.
“Give these younger ones a go. Obviously when the game gets a little bit helter-skelter like it did today, the younger players go missing a bit because of the physicality.
“All in all, first half they were good. Second half we were better.”
