George Lebese last played professional football in 2020. His last team was the Colorado Springs Switchbacks in the second division of American football.
Geezer had become a forgotten figure in domestic football. This is because he seemingly went AWOL and wasn’t representing any football club.
He had to cut his stay with the Switchbacks in half in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. South Africa was on the USA banned list and he could not fly back to Colorado.
As a result, his contract was terminated and Lebese remained in South Africa.
He did however have a short stint with Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila in 2021. This didn’t last long due to administrative issues and could not participate as the Limpopo side won the Nedbank Cup under the tutelage of Dylan Kerr.
In that close season, he had trials with Swallows FC. But then head coach Brandon Truter opted against signing him.
This was the last we saw of Lebese in association with any PSL team.
The former SuperSport United player is said to have sought the services of a physical trainer, as he attempts to return to the PSL this season.
“At last there is hope for him (Lebese),” a source revealed to Phakaaathi.
“He has been waiting for an opportunity to play for a very long time and now there is something promising for him. He is currently training, and he has professional helping him to get back to the right shape.
“I just hope that this thing happens. He still has about two to three years to play.
“The good thing is that everything with the ITC has been sorted as I hear and there won’t be trouble in any team signing him.” The source concluded.
