Ghana Outmuscle South Africa In Afcon Qualifier Opener
South Africa were out-muscled and out-manoeuvred 2-0 by Ghana in their opening 2021 African Cup of Nations qualifier in the Cape Coast on Thursday night .
The game was not televised in South Africa in Molefi Ntseki’s first competitive fixture.
Ghana were convincing in all departments and ultimately outclassed Bafana at a packed Cape Coast Sports Stadium as they striked through Thomas Partey in the 36th minute and substitute Mohammed Kudus in the 81st minute.
Ghana came out fired-up to defeat Bafana Bafana on a smooth surface in front of a small but noisy 15,000 crowd that packed the compact venue.
The defeat was the first time that Bafana have lost an AFCON qualifier since the defeat to Mauritania back in 2015.
South Africa now return home to face Sudan at Orlando Stadium on Sunday (November 17) desperately needing to collect their first set of points. Kick-off is at 15:00 (SA time).
Sudan won their opening match against Sao Tome and Principe 4-0 to top the standings on goal difference in Group C.
