Kaizer Chiefs defender Given Msimango is hopeful his performances will lead to selection for AFCON in 2024. The tournament will begin in January in the Ivory Coast

Msimango joined Amakhosi from TS Galaxy in the most previous transfer window. His performances have already made him a permanent starter in the first team.

There were no Kaizer Chiefs players in the road to qualification to AFCON for Bafana Bafana.

“I think we have five months until the Afcon. Your performances will put you in the team,” Msimango spoke, as per Times Live

“No favours will be done, I believe. You cannot fool the South African population. They are huge lovers of the game, and your performances will definitely put you in the team come January.

“That’s what I’m focusing on and that’s what my goals are.” He added.

Bafana head coach Hugo Broos had previously stated that Kaizer Chiefs do not have players which meet the standards of the national team. He later retracted those statements.

“People need to understand that everyone is entitled to their opinions and own observations about what they feel about footballers, clubs, whatever the case may be,” the defender added.

“My job is to respect those opinions and if you understand yourself as an individual, you hold yourself to high standards. Where you are is where you deserve to be and that’s where you are going to strive.

“So for me it’s just to respect his observations and opinions and continue doing what I’m doing for the club and for myself and continue improving in every training session, showing up and doing my best.” He lamented.
