The 22 year is part of the flurry of players to have joined Mamelodi Sundowns this season. He is yet to feature for his new side but remains patient.
Grant Mageman Wants to Win His First Professional Trophy with Sundowns! The u/23 international is regarded as one of the finest young midfielders in the country by fans, peers and journalists.
Mageman has had to be patient to make his Mamelodi Sundowns bow, as there are a great number of midfielders in that squad. He is keen to learn from his predecessors at the club.
“I want to get into the team, fight for my place, grow as a person in the team and get to know and learn from the guys” he tells the Mamelodi Sundowns website.
Mageman has signed a 5-year contract with the cub after joining from Ajax Cape Town, now known as Cape Town Spurs.
He was a crucial member of the squad that made it into the PSL promotion playoffs. Unfortunately, the Cape side lost out to Black Leopards.
Mageman is in a pecking order that includes the likes of Andile Jali, Hlompho Kekana, Rivaldo Coetzee, George Maluleka, Sphelele Mkhulise, Tiyani Mabunda, etc.
So, his playing time will not be as great as at NFD based Ajax Cape Town. But the youngster is not fazed by the stars he trains with every day, instead he is keen on learning from them.
“It’s a new chapter in my life but still the same Grant and the same goal which is to win more trophies for the club.
“The club has some great players with experience, and I want to learn as much from them and give back to the club.
“There are guys like Hlompho, AJ and George just to name a few who have been in the game for years, and I want to win my first trophy as a professional footballer with the club.” Mageman concluded.
