Happy Birthday To Kaizer Chiefs’ Kaizer Motaung SNR! Kaizer Chiefs Chairman Kaizer Motaung turned 76 years old yesterday. The Chiefs stalwart is the man behind South Africa’s most popular football club.
Kaizer Motaung made his name in the black and white colours of Orlando Pirates. He was affectionately known as Chincha Guluva back in his days at Orlando Pirates.
In 1970, at only 26 years old, Kaizer Motaung officially launched Kaizer Chiefs Football Club. The club went on to become immediate rivals with Orlando Pirates.
The two Soweto giants would go on to dominate South African football. Kaizer Motaung was able to allure some of the best players in Soweto.
After this, players from all over the country were incentivised to play for Kaizer Chiefs.
Great names include Teenage Dladla, Ace Ntsoeleng, Doctor Khumalo, Lucas Radebe, Neil Tovey, Brian Baloyi, Collins Mbesuma, Siphiwe Tshabalala and so forth.
In 2001, Kaizer Chiefs was voted the Best Club In Africa.
