Hear from Branco, Jacques and Aled
The second episode of the SA Rugby Podcast is out, with Blitzbok Branco du Preez talking about what it takes to wrestle victory from the jaws of defeat, while we also hear from Springbok coach Jacques Nienaber and Aled Walters.
Du Preez revisits three of the Blitzboks’ amazing victories in the last two years, in Vancouver, Singapore and Los Angeles, and how they managed to fight back from 19-0 down in all three instances, to beat Australia in a quarter-final, and Fiji in two brilliant finals.
“We’re a team that take pride in our defence and we have a never-give-up attitude, all of which start at training,” said Du Preez.
Furthermore Walters, who recently accepted an offer to join Leicester in England after two years as the Springboks’ Head of Athletic Performance, tells us about his time in South Africa, and we hear from Nienaber on the role Walters played in the Boks’ recent success.
“2018 was ovbiously tough at times, but the seeds were being planted, and it was quite exciting to be part of that development and see how things would progess,” said Walters.
