Manchester United have sent an official proposal to South African Tourism to potentially gain sponsorship from them. A video of this has circulated on social media.
Themba Khumalo, CEO of SA Tourism was elated to share this proposal from the Premier League giants. The department is currently in advanced talks with Tottenham Hotspurs to be their sleeve sponsor.
That proposed deal would see Spurs gain a cool R1 billion over the duration of the sponsorship.
“A verified video confirms that #mufc sent ‘South African Tourism’ a proposal to sponsor their shirts. The package was received by their CEO, Themba Khumalo.” United Chronicles posted on their social media.
“South African Tourism are also currently linked with Tottenham Hotspur in a record-breaking deal which hopes to increase tourism in South Africa
“This is very similar to the proposal which was sent to Visit Saudi. Note the box with the shirt.”
Khumalo was visibly excited in the video.
“If getting into football is such a bad thing, why is Manchester United, with 1.1 billion followers sending us a proposal?” he spoke.
“I think somebody out there does not understand that it is not about the team, it is about the 1.1 billion followers. We convert 10% of this that is 110 million, 1% is 11 million incremental visitors to the destination.”
