Here Is What Onyango And Messi Have In Common

Earlier this year Denis Onyango was announced as one of the Pepsi’s newest ambassadors in Uganda. Meanwhile, Lionel Messi and the likes of Paul Pogba are the global representatives of this brand. With Onyango being one of the most recognizable faces in African football, he’s now gotten another source of income. This is the perfect time to make more money since he’s not far from taking retirement.

“Are you ready to #GoForGooaals with me?! #UCL season is here and I am excited to be officially collaborating with @PepsiUganda to bring this grand competition home. Can’t wait to win with you all,” he wrote on his Instagram account.

DENIS ONYANGO SENDS MESSAGE TO YELLOW NATION

Mamelodi Sundowns secured their fifth consecutive Premier Soccer League title and a historic domestic treble in the presence of the Yellow Nation for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak in South Africa.

The last time Masandawana lifted the league title in front of a crowd was two years ago at Goble Park in Bethlehem to close off the 2018/19 season. After the announcement to allow fans back into the stadiums from April 2022, Bafana Ba Style enjoyed the turn out in numbers from their supporters during their home and away encounters. Downs’ captain Denis Onyango acknowledged that their supporters made an enormous contribution to the record-breaking win.

“First of all I would like to thank the fans for being behind us this past season because we really missed them in the stadiums. When the stadiums finally opened they came in numbers, especially in the MTN8 they were with us and pushed us until the last whistle and that’s how we managed to win the MTN8. And of course in the league as well, the Nedbank Cup and the CAF Champions League they’ve been fantastic.”

“All we need to do is to keep encouraging them to come to the stadium and to push the boys because their support is really, really important to the team and we believe that we can go and win more trophies in the coming season.”

The former Uganda national team goalkeeper and current Masandawana captain, also brought into the open the team’s continued desire to conquer Africa after their quarter-final exit in this season’s quest for glory. With the team having returned to training yesterday, Onyango looked ahead

“We are looking forward to the next season, it’s going to be interesting because teams have also beefed up their squads and we all need to give our best and try to win the Champions League because it’s overdue now. We believe that we have the ability and the quality to do that.”
