Orlando Pirates Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou Impressed by New Signings Msendami and De Jong

Orlando Pirates coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised new signings Daniel Msendami and Andre de Jong following their first competitive minutes in the Black and White jersey. Both players made their debut over the weekend as Pirates maintained their league title challenge. The team secured a 2-0 victory over Magesi FC at Orlando Amstel Arena, with goals from Yanela Mbuthuma and Relebohile Mofokeng. The win keeps the Soweto giants on track in the league while also introducing fresh faces to the squad.

Msendami and De Jong joined Pirates just two weeks ago, along with Mpho Chabatsane. Msendami and Chabatsane arrived from Marumo Gallants, while De Jong was signed from Stellenbosch FC. The weekend match offered the perfect platform for the duo to integrate into the team. Both came on as second-half substitutes in front of a sold-out crowd at the newly renamed stadium, making an immediate impression.

Speaking in the post-match press conference, Ouaddou explained that giving them game-time was part of the plan. He noted that it was important for the players to be seen by the fans and to experience starting in the Pirates’ stadium. “They did well,” he said. “It’s not easy to come here in a new team. They have to integrate quickly, and I think they did well. The time that I gave them, they used it well. And for me, it’s a lot of hope for us, for the future.”

Both Msendami and De Jong impressed with their composure and work rate during their minutes on the field. Their performance suggests they could become key contributors as Pirates continue to push for the league title. The players now have another chance to build on their debut when Pirates face AmaZulu FC in a league encounter at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Tuesday at 19:30.

The integration of new signings demonstrates Pirates’ intent to strengthen squad depth and maintain their competitive edge. Ouaddou’s positive assessment signals confidence that Msendami and De Jong will adapt quickly and contribute significantly in the coming weeks.
