South African musician and rapper AKA was assassinated in Durban on Friday night. PSL teams have since paid their condolences following the tragedy.
Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes was gunned down alongside long-time friend and former Musician Tebello ‘Tibz’ Motsoane outside a restaurant on Friday. He was a popular figure not only in the music industry but in the country as a whole.
SupaMega was widely known as a football fanatic, publicly supporting Manchester United and Orlando Pirates. He even went as far as getting a tattoo of the Premier League giants.
“The Chairman and the Motsepe Family, the Board of Directors, Technical Team, Players, Management, Staff, and the entire Yellow Nation would like to express their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes.” Mamelodi Sundowns wrote on their social media.
“AKA’s contribution to pop culture will continue for generations to come. His music will continue to live in our hearts. He will be sorely missed by everyone of us.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Forbes family as well as those close to AKA during this trying time.”
The rapper used to perform before and during big football matches as well. He opened the 2021 Nedbank Cup final in Bloemfontein in 2021.
