Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has criticised the professionalism in South African soccer. This is after he was denied entry to a stadium and players not having passports.
In a candid interview on SABC Sport, Broos revealed some of his utterances with the Premier Soccer League. He also did not understand how players do not have passports to play international matches.
On Saturday afternoon, Broos and his coaching staff attempted to watch Orlando Pirates host Mamelodi Sundowns in the DSTV Premiership at the Orlando Stadium.
However, the coach admitted that he was denied entry into the stadium
“I have to mention I am also; I’m really upset. We would have liked to see the game between Pirates and Sundowns, but they did not allow us to go in the stadium,” he said in the interview.
“We couldn’t enter at 3pm, we were not allowed to enter the stadium and we had an accreditation of the league. They said ‘no this is not enough. When I let you in, I lose my job’.
“I don’t understand that. We are coaches of the national team, and there is a team (Pirates) who don’t allow us into the stadium to see a game of their team.
“Most surprising is that the chairman of the team (Irvin Khoza) is the vice-president of SAFA. I didn’t believe it, so we have to go back.
“My assistant was there, so I phoned him and said, ‘come with us and come and see the game, SuperSport’. It is unacceptable, really unacceptable.” He lamented.
This was as the coach was announcing his final 23-man Bafana Bafana squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. Hugo Broos Criticises the Professionalism of Orlando Pirates After Stadium Snub!
