Orlando Pirates have emerged as one of the African clubs with the highest number of players at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament, set to kick off in Morocco on Sunday, will see the hosts face Comoros in the opening match. According to Egyptian news outlet Mobtada, Sudanese side Al Hilal leads all clubs, providing 11 players. Ten of these feature for Sudan, while one represents Burkina Faso. Al Ahly follows closely with 10 players, eight of whom play for Egypt, Bafana Bafana’s Group B opponents.
Orlando Pirates rank third among African clubs in terms of representation, supplying nine players to the tournament. Key names in the Bafana Bafana squad include Relebohile Mofokeng, Oswin Appollis and Sipho Mbule. Mamelodi Sundowns follow in fourth place with eight players at AFCON 2025. Six of their players feature for Bafana Bafana, while Divine Lunga and Denis Onyango represent Zimbabwe and Uganda, respectively.
