According to Daily Sun, Mapula Khune’s room was burned down in the wee hours of Thursday morning. She was alone in the back room and allegedly burned down beyond recognition.

A source close to all the proceedings says that an intruder had broken into Mapula’s room and attacked her. The intruder ultimately burned down the room.

“It is not the main house that was burnt down, but an outdoor room where Mapula was sleeping. The incident happened at their grandmother’s house in Ventersdorp in the wee hours of Thursday morning.” Said the source.

“People called the police at about 4am to 5am when they realised the room was on fire. When the police arrived, she was burned beyond recognition. The family is now waiting for the post-mortem.” The informant added.

The Ventersdorp police are currently waiting for a post-mortem. It is unclear at the moment whether the deceased was sexually harassed or not before being burnt to death.

“At 5am on Thursday we received a call about a lot of smoke coming from a back room in Tshing. The police broke down the door and found a 27-year-old burned down inside the room. Unfortunately the lady had already died when the police arrived.” Ventersdorp Police spokeswoman Colonel Adele Myburgh addressed.

“The case has been opened, and it is under investigation. At this stage, we are waiting for the forensics.” Said Ventersdorp Police Commander D. Gwala.

These turn of events cast doubt on Itumeleng Khune’s eligibility for football this March. The goalkeeper is believed to be in North West right now.

Khune was named in the Bafana Bafana squad for AFCON Qualifiers. It is now unknown whether this will impact his availability or not.

Head coach Molefi Ntseki face a flurry of criticism for naming the veteran Khune in the Bafana Bafana squad. Ntseki later defended his decision to name Khune.

It is not unsure whether Khune will participate or not. Itumeleng Khune’s Sister Reportedly Passes Away!
