John Maduka Proud of Maritzburg United Players After Claiming Win! The Team of Choice defeated The Buccaneers in their last match.

Maritzburg United beat Orlando Pirates 1-0 in the DSTV Premiership on Sunday evening. Head coach John Maduka was proud of the character his team showed to claim all three points.

Before the match started, all logic pointed to The Buccaneers claiming victory at the Harry Gwala Stadium. And it looked to be that way as the visitors created plenty of opportunities.

The hosts themselves also created chances, which could not find the back of the net. However, deep into the second half Olisa Ndah fouled Siboniso Conco in the penalty area.

Amadou Soukouna slotted the penalty away.

“I’m so proud of the boys,” John Maduka told SuperSport TV after the win. 

“They showed character.

“Pirates not an easy team to play against, very good team. We knew after scoring that they will throw everyone.

“They will throw everything forward and they did exactly that, but we managed to deal with that.

“Yes, goalkeeper [King Ndlovu] was on another level and the defence they managed, so I’m proud of the boys. They showed character and we managed to defend the goal that we scored.” He lamented.
