The hosts took the lead as captain Lesego Manganyi rose highest to head in a corner kick. Amakhosi got the equalizer when Thabo Matlaba unfortunately scored an own goal.
Mduduzi Shabalala was fouled in the box in extra time, giving Yusuf Maart the opportunity to win the match from the penalty spot.
“If it’s not your day, its not your day. I think the game, we started well.” Maduka told SuperSport TV.
“We started well, we managed to score a goal from a set-piece. After that we contained them, they never looked like they would score, until we made that mistake.
“So, in other words, we made things difficult for ourselves. Games like this, you have to concentrate throughout the match.
“You make one mistake, you get punished. But I’m so proud of the boys, we never gave up. We scored an own goal, the other goal is a penalty, but we continued fighting.
“We did continue fighting, although we strongly believe that we fought, but we did not play the way we normally play. We tend to play like the opposition, whereby they kick the ball forward and that’s not our game.
“We’re supposed to keep the ball, try to create chances you know, going forward. But I think we did not do that much.
“I think maybe the nature of the game, cup games are like that. You don’t want to make mistakes and that’s when you make mistakes, unfortunately.” He concluded.
