Orlando Pirates lost 1-0 at home to Kaizer Chiefs in the DSTV Premiership on Saturday afternoon. Head coach José Riveiro conceded that their opponents scored a stunner.
Former Bucs midfielder Yusuf Maart scored from his own half in the second stanza of the game. This sensational goal was enough to grant Amakhosi victory.
Riveiro was bitterly disappointed to suffer this defeat.
“Not the beginning that we expect, very low rhythm, I don’t know the reason why,” the Spaniard told Julia Stuart of SuperSport TV.
“Both teams actually in the first half. There was a time when it looked like they were a bit better.
“They had a couple of balls behind our back [defenders], but I think it was quite equal first half, even though we were not playing the game that we were supposed to be playing tonight [today]. Second half I think we improved, we changed our structure a little bit and we managed to control the rhythm of the game much better.
“We played [spent] much more time in their half, and when the game was a bit better for us, in my opinion, they scored a beautiful goal, and we couldn’t change the result anymore.” He added.
