José Riveiro Disappointed in Defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns! The Bucs suffered a comfortable loss to The Brazilians last time around.

Orlando Pirates lost 2-0 away to Mamelodi Sundowns in the DSTV Premiership last week Friday. Head coach José Riveiro was unhappy with the second half performance and result.

Goals from Mothobi Mvala and Cassius Mailula were enough to give the hosts a deserved win. However, Riveiro believes that The Bucs were the better team in the first stanza and they should have gone into the halftime break in the lead, not trailing.

“Moments for both teams during the 90 minutes. I think, I have the feeling, its difficult to explain from our perspective on the bench, but I have the feeling that we were the better team in the first half.” The Spaniard told SuperSport TV.  

“We managed to get control after 10-15 minutes and have a couple of chances to take the lead, unfortunately we couldn’t. There was a moment after 35 minutes where we started to defend a little bit lower.

“After a set piece the opponent managed to get a lead, just before halftime and that changed quite a lot. In the second half we had to risk more.

“I have the feeling that Sundowns was better than us in the beginning of the second half. Then at 2-0 the game was quite far for us, we tried everything to get close, we were not accurate or lucky in the last periods tonight and that’s why the result is what it is.” He added.
