Jose Riveiro Happy to Bounce Back Against Swallows FC! The Buccaneers thumped The Dube Birds last time out.

Orlando Pirates defeated Swallows FC 4-1 in the DSTV Premiership on Friday night. Head coach Jose Riveiro was pleased that his side could go back to winning ways.

The Buccaneers lost to Kaizer Chiefs last weekend, so they were on a mission to forget about that encounter. Monnapule Saleng was the star of the show as he scored a hattrick and provided an assist for Terrence Dzvukamanja to score.

Mthokozisi Shwabule scored the solitary goal for the hosts.

“Yes, we had a difficult week after our last game. We were not happy with our performance, with the picture we showed of the team.” Riveiro told Mpho Maboi of SuperSport TV.

“It was not us, so like I said before the game we wanted to immediately show the football that we want to play, that we have the capacity to play. We have showed many times this season that we need to be, and we want to be more consistent.

“So, yeah, so glad, so happy to see the team, especially the aggression we showed in the first half and the moments where we lost the ball, the number of times that we were able to control the ball in their half. So, yeah really satisfied with today’s performance.”

Riveiro didn’t want to single out Saleng alone but gave credit to the entire team for the performance and victory.

“We have a fantastic team, full of good talents. I cannot even highlight somebody today; I think everybody was on a very good level.

“From the centre backs, they have a difficult today. To defend these balls, the long balls. The work of the central midfielders to collect those balls and give us continuity.

“Gave us the capacity to show our talent in front of them, all of our players in attack today; [Thembinkosi] Lorch, Dzvuka [Terrence Dzvukamanja], KB [Kabelo Dlamini] and of course Monnapule [Saleng], we are in a very high level.” The Spaniard spoke.
