Coach Zinnbauer refuses to look at Chiefs lightly.
“We are playing against a big club, with what we know is quality players and a quality coach,” said Zinnbauer in the online pre-match presser.
“He knows exactly what’s happened in the Derby and what’s happened in the league, what he can do fighting for titles also, he has a lot of experience and he knows exactly what he has to say to the players.
“We know they have struggled a little bit in the league but you see also in the Champions League how they come closer to the points and get more points, and also in the league.
“Now it’s a signal that they are coming better in the games, so for us is just to go through quick recovery from Wednesday’s game and continue with the same performance on Sunday.”
Josef Zinnbauer recently reached his 50th game as Orlando Pirates head coach on Wednesday. They defeated Nigerian side Enyimba FC 2-1 in the CAF Confederations League.
His 60% win ratio in his first 50 games is the best ratio out of any Orlando Pirates coach in the PSL era.
“Yes, I saw the statistics also. I’m happy about this but it’s not my work alone, it’s also the work of Fadlu Davids, Darian Wilken as the analyst, the fitness coaches,” said Zinnbauer.
“This is all the work of these guys – the rehab guys, medical guys, the management, the chairman – all of these people are part of these results and deserve the credit also.
“These are not my statistics alone, I have to thank especially the players, they fight for the points, they come back when we have a bad game and bring us a win – it’s the sort of team work we need for such results.
“But as a coach, yes, I’m happy about this, it’s special for clubs like Pirates or big clubs around the world, it’s not easy because everyone wants to beat you.
“Don’t forget, the first time I came here, nobody trusted me and now we’re fighting together and for each other, and we work for such results so I hope it’s not the last points we have. We’re now going forward and we want more points.” He concluded
