Judas Moseamedi Haunts Kaizer Chiefs Once Again
Maritzburg United striker Judas Moseamedi has now happily cast himself in the role of Kaizer Chiefs’ chief tormentor or “The Chiefs Slayer” as he seems to alaways bring his “A” game every time he comes up against the Naturena boys and any other big team for that matter.
It was only by a stroke of luck and in controversial fashion that Mamelodi Sundowns were able to claim the Telkom Knockout Cup last weekend after Judas struck in stoppage time only to be denied by the assistant referee.
No one ever knows what would have happened had the tie gone to extra time, Sundowns went on to claim a 2-1 final victory but The Team of Choice were felt hard done by the referees call to deny them a “genuine” goal.
This came in the wake of Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane claiming in his pre-match interview that he was ready to lift the cup by hook or crook.
“I even want offside [goal] on Saturday then I will lift up the trophy gladly, and penalty. No problem.” Mosimane said
It was Moseamedi’s brace that sent Kaizer Chiefs crashing out of the Telkom Knockout at the semi-final stage last month.
Yesterday, in a league match he returned to haunt Chiefs with a precise goal taken with the calm of a surgeon earning Maritzburg United a crucial point that put some brakes to Chiefs league jaggernaut and also cancelled out Lebogang Manyama’s 20th minute opener.
Chiefs dropped two crucial points in the title race but they will still finish the year with a seven-point lead over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns.
Chiefs return to action against title rivals SuperSport United in a tough fixture to be played at Mbombela stadium on January 4.
