Justice At Last?Lobby Group Delves Into Senzo Meyiwa Murder Case

Lobby group AfriForum has appointed Advocate Gerrie Nel to lead its investigation into the murder of Senzo Meyiwa.

Afriforum and the family of the late soccer player announced during a media conference today that the civil rights organisation would be representing the Meyiwa family.

The 27-year-old former Bafana Bafana captain who was at the peak of his game, was shot in cold blood five years ago in a botched robbery at a house in Vosloorus, after which the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) failed to institute prosecution.

AfriForum met with the Meyiwa family on Monday where they asked the lobby group to investigate Meyiwa’s murder.

“We are proud to be associated with AfriForum, that is willing to fight for the truth. I will not die before this is sorted. I don’t fear anyone, I only fear God” says the brother of Senzo, Siyabonga.

“The Meyiwa family are proud to be associated with an organisation that is bold enough to stand with us in the fight for justice in this case. We are therefore calling on all reasonable South Africans of all races to stand with us and oppose this injustice”

“We together with AfriForum want to honour Senzo by ensuring that justice is served, and his murderers are brought to book.” added Siyabonga Meyiwa.
