No one has ever achieved that feat in the blue of SuperSport United. Williams has also amassed over 300 appearances for SuperSport United since making his debut 10 years ago.
He reached 100 consecutive league appearances against Swallows over the weekend. It was unfortunate that he couldn’t win a clean sheet as the side drew 1-1 at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Kaitano Tembo was immensely proud to oversee this achievement.
“I think with Ronwen, he is a true reflection of a SuperSport United player. I’ve known since he arrived at the club since I was a player, towards the end of my career, and I ended up coaching him at the academy, you know, at U17.” Tembo told The Beautiful Game.
“He is a one-man club, and I think we use him as a guide to the younger players; from the academy to the first team, he is a true reflection of what we expect from a SuperSport United player, someone who is very committed, someone who is very hungry.
“And you can see, he still wants to play, he still wants to achieve, you know he still wants to win trophies with the club, and a lot of younger players can learn a lot from him, and I’m quite happy that he has reached this milestone,” the coach concluded.
Kaitano Tembo has overseen 2 club records by his players this season. Bradley Grobler became SuperSport United’s all-time league leading goal scorer this season as well.
