Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns Target Tanzanian Midfielder Feisal Salum

As the next transfer window approaches, Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns are both being linked with a potential move for Tanzanian international Feisal Salum. The 27-year-old attacking midfielder, currently with Azam FC, has been on Chiefs’ radar since the last transfer period and is now reportedly open to offers from both South African giants.

Azam have confirmed their willingness to listen to offers for Salum, who previously worked under Amakhosi head coach Nasreddine Nabi during their time together at Young Africans. However, with Sundowns also entering the picture, competition for his signature could intensify.

Salum’s Future in Limbo

Despite the growing speculation, Salum’s next move remains uncertain, as his future will depend on which club can meet Azam’s valuation. Some reports suggest Sundowns may have an advantage due to their financial strength, while others believe Chiefs could still pull off the deal if negotiations go in their favor.

An intermediary close to the situation revealed that the player’s name has been discussed for potential transfers, and his next move will be determined in the upcoming window.

“A player has the final say. If he wants Chiefs and a better team comes with a counteroffer, he would not be forced to sign with them. Only he can choose,” a source stated.

Chiefs’ Trophy Drought vs. Sundowns’ Squad Depth

If Salum joins Chiefs, he could be a key figure in their rebuild under Nabi, with the club desperate to end their 10-year trophy drought. However, there are concerns that Sundowns’ depth in midfield could limit his playing time if he chooses Chloorkop instead.

With the transfer window fast approaching, it remains to be seen whether Amakhosi will secure their target or if Sundowns will swoop in with a bigger offer. Either way, Feisal Salum’s future is set to be one of the major talking points in the coming months.
