Kaizer Chiefs Bid Farewell to Erick Mathoho! Amakhosi will see the veteran defender leave the club at the end of the new month.
The contract of Erick Mathoho will not be renewed when it expires at the end of June. The club has thanked him for the services to the club.
Tower joined the club in 2012 from Bloemfontein Celtic. He won two ABSA Premiership titles, among other trophies, in his 11 years stay at Naturena.
He has not played for Amakhosi this season, as the club has veered into a more youthful setup. With his contract coming to an end and his playing time severely diminish, the defender’s fate was sealed at the club.
“Who can forget the dramatic moment in July 2012 when we unveiled our new players, including Morgan Gould, Khotso Moleko and Siboniso Gaxa, but we were only able to unveil a mannequin wearing jersey #3, as we were trying hard to bring the player to Naturena
“We knew he was our player but needed to finalise some paperwork, as there was interest from other teams.” Kaizer Chiefs Marketing Director Jessica Motaung told the club media.
“We are happy that the man from Tshiombo in Limpopo realised his dream of donning the Gold & Black jersey of the team he supported from childhood,” founder Dr Kaizer Motaung
“It’s not everyone who realises this dream. Erick now joins our long list of Kaizer Chiefs legends who served the Club and its supporters with aplomb over the last 53 years, and he will always be welcomed at the Kaizer Chiefs Village.”
The defender is now free to join any club as a free agent.
