Kaizer Chiefs Defeat Orlando Pirates to Claim Carling Black Label Trophy! Amakhosi have won the first piece of silverware the new season has to offer.

Kaizer Chiefs has defeated arch-rivals Orlando Pirates 4-3 on penalties yesterday. The shootout followed an entertaining 0-0 draw.

Both teams displayed their attacking talents in the pre-season friendly. The teams were managed by their favourite supporters.

It was Orlando Pirates who created the bulk of the opportunities in the game. However, lacklustre finishing from the likes of Thembinkosi Lorch cost them.

The Buccaneers had the opportunity to field Tebogo Tlolane and youngster Boitumelo Radiopane. They both came on as substitutes in the second half.

Tlolane returned to the club from loan at Maritzburg United. Radiopane graduated into the first team from the DSTV Diski Challenge side.

Kaizer Chiefs also had an outstanding match. They saw their new signings make an impact in the game.

Amakhosi fielded new signings Brandon Peterson, Sifiso Hlanti, Phathutshedzo Nange, Cole Alexander, and Kgaogelo Sekgota. The latter impressed the most as they all came on as subs.

Sekgota trended on Twitter after amazing displays on the wing for Chiefs.

Fans of Kaizer Chiefs were happy because they defeated Pirates and they were not at full strength. This gives hope of what the team can achieve once their best players are all on the football pitch.
